Demographical Assessment, Climate Change Awareness and Adaptation Practices of Falcata (Paraserianthes falcataria) Growers in Barobo Municipality of Surigao del Sur

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the climate change awareness and adaptation among falcata growers in Barobo, Surigao del Sur. The following findings were revealed in the study: the respondents from Barobo, Surigao del Sur were generally 41-50 years old, married, high school graduate, had 6 – 10 children, 6 -10 household members, and Roman Catholic. Majority of the respondents were moderately aware of climate change in the municipality of Barobo, Surigao del Sur. Most of them adapt at least six of the adaptation practices presented to them. Most of them raised awareness on water management, adjust planting schedules based on climate condition, improved drainage system, promote the advocacy of not burning plastic, tree planting and use of drought resistant crops.
